Was offered a 2pm checkout, without asking at check in. We thought it was mini safe but I think it was from the ceiling air vent in the closet.įor fitness people, you are given guest access to Gold Gym to exercise. There also was an annoying mechanical whining sound that happened every few minutes near the closet. The doors would automatically swing open so we had to leave a shoe in front of it to stop it from opening (the lock didn't work). The guest amenity fee (Resort Fee) was $35 per day but not charged to me (maybe waived for free night certs?)īooked a Premier King (Base Room) and was upgraded to a King Suite, it was nice to have the extra living space however the sleeping area was enclosed by french doors that swung toward the bed, blocking the nightstand and had the door right in your face when laying in bed. There also is a $38 valet parking fee, didn't seem like there was a self parking option but I'm not 100% sure. Nice hotel, but nowhere near worth the cash rate of $400-$700. Just completed a stay at the Kimpton Canary utilizing my final (no-cap) chase credit card voucher. But I wouldn't overpay this much (in either cash or points) for that convenience, when it doesn't seem worth it on any other grounds. I just tried it because I had a free night cert to use up and was going to an event about a mile away and it was the only hotel within 30 miles with free night availability and so it seemed convenient. So I'm not likely to stay at this property again (and it being my first Kimpton stay, it may have soured me on the value of the brand overall). They gave me the option of $10 F&B credit or 600 points as a welcome amenity as a Plat. The granola & yogurt with fruit for breakfast / brunch did not taste as good to me as the same at a Courtyard (Marriott program) or some indie hotels I've had it at. There is a gimmicky record player and some vinyl records in the room, but it's not kept organized (all the records in my room were in the wrong sleeves). There was no remote for the TV in the room, and it took half an hour to get one. Having said that: On a paid stay, $28 is not the main problem the night I was there, the total charge would have been $338 (they accidentally didn't apply the free night at first, so that's why I know what they would have charged me), and even for Santa Barbara, that seems like a ridiculous amount to pay for a two-story no-elevator exterior-entrances motel which has just been "dressed up" to pretend to be better (but IMHO isn't that much better in execution). So you can't tell until you actually check out. Hopefully that is the same way it works for points redemptions.īut I can't be sure, because while I wasn't charged the resort fee, my confirmation said I would be charged it. (Keep in mind that a free night cert stay at this hotel is no longer possible going forwards for most people, unless you have a certificate issued pre-May, because the new certificates are 40k max, while this hotel charges 45k points per night.) if you book direct with them they charge a resort fee of $28 (which I would find odd as I find it a bit of a strech to call it a resort) but they do not charge that for priceline reservations. The Kimpton Goodland in Goleta did not charge me the resort fee on a Chase IHG free night certificate stay. The staff were outstanding and even though we were priceline express they honored my Rewards Gold Status. Gets mixed reviews on Tripadvisor but we really liked it with one exception - the smell of the water, which from what I understand is more widespread issue than just the hotel. it is an old HI and was an old style motel (outside entrance). We stayed at the Kimton Goodland in Goleta. ![]()
